Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Buys Home on Maui
As a long time visitor to Maui, Steven Tyler had been looking at beachfront homes for quite some time. And as released by the Wall Street Journal (watch video below), the American Idol judge purchase a home on the prestigious Makena district in South Maui. Makena is also rumored to be home (or in this case, second-home) to a myriad of celebrities, including Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, and Clint Eastwood.
Steven’s new home is an oceanfront 2 bedroom / 3.5 bathroom Makena property on 1/4 acre.
With 3,000 square feet of interior space, covered outdoor living space of over 1,400 square feet, a very distinct Hawaiiana feel to it mixed with world-class luxury finishes and a phenomenal pool overlooking the ocean, it is a perfect setting for entertaining. With a very unique location on a promontory, it is surrounded on 3 sides by the Pacific. It had been offered at $6,495,000 but sold for $4.8M after being on the market for over 500 days (luxury properties typically spend much longer on the market as the pool of buyers is much more limited). Not only did he buy a house, he made the time much more memorable by getting engaged to long-time girlfriend, Erin Brady.

I know that for a person like Steven Tyler money is probably no object, but the fact is that nowadays it is islands and foreign casas that are drawing the attention of the smart money. Most cities have seen huge increases in home prices over the past few years, so those might not be the best places to buy now. It is recreational properties that are worth investing in.
That’s a very interesting property for someone like him to purchase – aside from the beachfront (which I’m sure is breath taking and worth the cost), the size seems a bit small for a celebrity.
It appears however, they tend to stick together when it comes to property purchases.

This particular area does not have large estates, particularly in this price range (this home is in the entry-point price level of Makena) as large homes command much higher prices: $15M+. In my opinion (and that’s all it is), Steven got a great deal on a very unique property.

What is better than being in Hawaii and being surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on three sides.
Totally gorgeous home! The place itself is already a good investment. For the rich and famous, the price may not even matter.
Wow!! What a beautiful property! So tropical. Especially the dark and light woods. I think the leader singer of Aerosmith got a great deal only paying $4.8M for this Hawaiian gem and what a fantastic place to get engaged.
